I have a gas fire in my fireplace, do I need to have the chimney swept?
Every chimney that is in use should be swept regularly to keep it safe and running efficiently. Your lovely gas fire is an inefficient burner (that’s what gives you the pretty yellow flame) and the left over chemicals need to be pulled up your chimney and out of your house.
A blockage, from deteriorating lining, bricks or dust from work being done in other parts of the house, birds leaving nesting material and even spider webs can result in a blockage that can cause dangerous carbon monoxide in your home.
All this can easily be avoided with regular maintenance by your friendly local chimney sweep!
